The District of Columbia to Toronto is a regular route on our schedule with the majority of pickups coming from DC proper, the Capitol Hill area and Georgetown as well as nearby Maryland and Virginia suburbs that share the metro. Clients who use this route tend to be diplomats and embassy staff at end of posting, federal workers moving to private sector in Canada, and academics or researchers moving to University of Toronto and other GTA institutions.

Most shipments are one and two bedroom apartment loads from DC’s row houses and condos with the occasional full household relocation from a suburban single family home. We coordinate parking permits for DC restricted parking zones and historic districts. Shuttle trucks are used in areas with limited access. Volume-based pricing is fixed before pickup in Washington – the rate isn’t changed at delivery in Toronto regardless of border process time or access conditions.

Truck Route from District of Columbia to Toronto

The vast majority of DC to Toronto moves utilize the Peace Bridge (Fort Erie / Buffalo)-0902 commercial border crossing, a major freight gateway between the eastern US and Ontario. Trucks pickup from DC, north on I-95 to Baltimore then switch over to I-83 North through PA to Harrisburg. From here continue on I-81 North and I-90 West (New York State Thruway) to Buffalo. Trucks exiting the Peace Bridge after clearing Canadian customs proceed directly on the QEW into the Toronto metro area. For pickups in the nearby Maryland or Northern Virginia suburbs the route is I-270 or I-66 to join the same I-95 corridor.
