One of our most active US to Canada routes is New York to Toronto. The majority of shipments are from the NYC boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens) and the surrounding metro area including Long Island and Westchester. Many of the clients on this route are tech workers and finance professionals moving to Toronto jobs, Canadian citizens returning home after time in the US, and families moving for university or healthcare reasons.

Most shipments are one and two-bedroom apartment loads, considering how similar NYC and downtown Toronto urban densities are. Our standard process includes taking care of the certificate of insurance, elevator reservations, and parking permits for pickups in high-rises in Manhattan and Brooklyn brownstones. In New York, the price is locked by volume before pickup. In Toronto, it doesn't matter what the access conditions or timing at the border, the price is locked in at delivery.

Truck Route from New York to Toronto

Most traffic from New York to Toronto passes through the Buffalo-Niagara Falls-0901 commercial border crossing, one of the main freight gateways between the northeastern United States and Ontario. Trucks are transported to New York City or Long Island, then up I-87 (New York State Thruway) to Albany, then switched to I-90 West toward Buffalo. The route crosses the border at Niagara Falls from Buffalo then heads north on the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) which takes you directly into the Toronto metro area. For pickups in upstate New York such as Rochester or Syracuse, trucks go directly onto I-90 and use the same Niagara Falls crossing into Ontario.
