New Jersey is one of the most reliable of our US routes. Most of the shipping volume is through Newark, Jersey City and Hoboken – financial types getting ahead of NYC commute fatigue by moving to Toronto's Bay Street, tech workers commuting from Jersey City's growing corporate campuses (Goldman Sachs, ICE, JPMorgan satellite operations) to Canadian fintech, pharma industry moves from northern NJ to Mississauga's pharma corridor.

The majority of the activity on this corridor is one and two bedroom apartment loads, New Jersey’s urban density near NYC is similar to the downtown Toronto market and clients tend to move between similar building types. For high-rises in Jersey City or Hoboken, we’ve included Certificate of Insurance requirements and elevator reservations as part of our standard delivery process. Bigger detached-home volumes sometimes come from suburban Bergen County and Princeton-area pickups. The pricing is based on volume and the price is fixed before pickup and doesn’t change at delivery, no matter how hard it is to get to the delivery point.

How Much Does it Cost to Move from Newark to Toronto?

Inventory Volume (Cubic Feet) + Distance/Route + Destination Logistics

New Jersey moves are priced to incorporate the 515 mile trip out of the NYC metro and through upstate New York to Ontario through Buffalo. In addition to standard suburban access for Bergen County and Princeton addresses, pickup logistics usually involve certificate of insurance and elevator coordination for Jersey City and Hoboken high-rises and parking permit arrangements for Newark commercial districts.

Truck Route from Newark to Toronto

With NJ in the NYC metro, the natural exit is the Peace Bridge in Buffalo – the I-87 north and I-90 west sequence is faster than any alternative crossing. From Newark, drivers take the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95 North) to the George Washington Bridge or the Tappan Zee/Mario Cuomo Bridge, depending on traffic and time of day, then merging onto I-87 (NY State Thruway) heading north past Albany. From there I-90 West crosses through upstate New York to Buffalo. The QEW enters the GTA after crossing the Canadian Customs at the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie. Pickups in Jersey City and Hoboken via the Holland Tunnel or Lincoln Tunnel into Manhattan, then exit via the GW Bridge to I-87. Sometimes we use Bayonne and the Outerbridge Crossing if Manhattan traffic is bad. Princeton and southern New Jersey pickups (Camden, Cherry Hill) should take I-295 North or the NJ Turnpike to join the main route at Newark.
