We run consolidated schedules on a long corridor in New Mexico for Southwest. Albuquerque accounts for the largest share of pickups – Sandia National Laboratories engineers going to Canadian research operations, University of New Mexico medical center physicians and Intel Rio Rancho fab employees going to Canadian semiconductor work. Santa Fe has a different mix: art-industry professionals, retirees relocating after decades in the Southwest and Los Alamos National Laboratory transfers when classified-program staff move to Canadian academic positions. Academic moves at New Mexico State University and the occasional south border-region transfer in Las Cruces.

New Mexico pickups have unique operational considerations. Sometimes Santa Fe and Taos adobe and stucco homes have low ceilings and thick walls that require slower handling for furniture and artwork. We take this into consideration when scheduling pickup windows. Northern New Mexico road conditions near Taos and Angel Fire might cause trouble for mountain pickups, needing shuttle truck support. Standard COI and elevator coordination for Albuquerque high-rise condos and downtown lofts. The price per cubic foot is locked in at the New Mexico inventory check and the 6-9 day cross country through the Texas Panhandle, Oklahoma and the Midwest does not change the contract number.

The cost of New Mexico relocations reflects the long-haul journey of 1,925 miles from the Southwest and across the Plains to Ontario. Santa Fe & Taos adobe homes often require careful handling of furniture, Northern mountain access roads often require shuttle truck support, and Albuquerque high-rise addresses often require standard COI and elevator coordination.

Truck Route from Albuquerque to Toronto

One of the longer single-corridor routes in our network, New Mexico to Ontario, has the truck travel along Interstate 40 for nearly half the distance across the continental US before heading north. Drivers heading east on I-40 from Albuquerque go through the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma, then on through Arkansas to Memphis, where the route joins up with I-55 North or at times switches to I-44 East at Oklahoma City for the consolidation route through St. Louis. Both options converge by the time trucks reach the corridor of I-94 East through Michigan to Detroit. Customs is at the Ambassador Bridge and Highway 401 East into the GTA. Santa Fe pickups use I-25 South to I-40 East – adds approximately an hour to the front leg. Depending on consolidation logistics with Texas freight, Las Cruces and southern New Mexico pickups follow I-25 North to Albuquerque, or sometimes I-10 East to El Paso and then north to merge with I-40 in eastern Texas.
