How to Book a Moving Truck with a Driver

Prepare your inventory, addresses and access details, then confirm the truck, crew and services in your quote.

Before booking a moving truck with a driver, decide what you need the crew to do as well as what needs to fit in the vehicle. A list of furniture, access photos and your preferred date gives us a more useful starting point than the number of bedrooms alone.

1. Prepare the inventory

List the large furniture and appliances, then estimate the number of packed boxes. Include items in lockers, garages and basements. Note anything you are selling before the move so it does not remain in the quote by mistake.

Our moving volume calculator helps organise the inventory in cubic feet. Space is only part of the assessment: a compact heavy item or an awkward staircase can require additional handling even when there is room in the truck.

2. Describe pickup and delivery access

  • Give both full addresses and the floors involved.
  • Explain stairs, elevator dimensions and any reserved loading window.
  • Show the route from the truck to the door, including long walks and tight turns.
  • Send photos and dimensions of oversized furniture, pianos, safes or other specialist items.

If building management requires a certificate of insurance or other paperwork, send the requirements before agreeing a date. Confirm loading permissions with the building rather than assuming the truck can stop at the entrance.

3. Choose the help you need

Specify who will pack, load, unload, dismantle and reassemble furniture. A truck-and-driver arrangement and a move with a handling crew are different scopes of work. For a small local shipment, ask about the available Cargo Taxi options; for a household move, see our GTA moving services.

For a move between cities, use the long-distance moving service and provide your pickup and delivery flexibility. Do not apply an hourly local estimate to a cross-country shipment.

4. Request and review the quote

Use the quote form or call (416) 520-3575. Ask the estimate to identify the crew, vehicle, service scope, minimum charge where applicable, one-time fee, taxes and any separately priced work. Check how inventory or access changes would affect the price.

Confirm the booking process, payment arrangements and change or cancellation terms directly with our team. Sending an enquiry alone should not be treated as confirmation that a truck is reserved.

5. Confirm the moving-day plan

Agree the arrival window and who can be reached at each address. Keep the inventory and written estimate together, reserve the required building access and tell us about changes before the crew arrives. For a longer delivery window, carry keys, documents and everyday essentials with you.
